MEDIPIE is in Cartagena

We do not have clinics in other cities and we do not travel elsewhere to perform these assessments. This page is for people who live away from Cartagena and are considering travelling to the clinic.

Before you book, a member of the team can explain what may be useful to bring and how the visit is usually organised. That helps you arrive with the relevant information without assuming in advance that you need a particular test or treatment.

Plan the visit

Three steps before and during your appointment

A simple sequence helps patients travelling from elsewhere understand what to expect without adding unnecessary tests or extra journeys.

Call before you travel

Tell us where you are travelling from, the reason for the visit and whether you already have relevant reports, previous orthoses or recent tests.

Prepare only what may help

Bring the information and footwear that are relevant to your case. You do not need to arrange new tests just to book an appointment.

Assessment comes first

At the clinic we assess the case and then explain whether treatment, an orthosis, another visit or follow-up is appropriate.

Before you travel

What is useful to bring

Previous information can help us understand your case in context. It is useful when you already have it, but it is not a requirement for booking.

Reports and tests

Bring prescriptions, medical reports, X-rays, MRI scans, ultrasound reports or other related tests if you already have them.

Your usual footwear

Bring the shoes you normally wear and, when relevant, sports or work footwear. Fit, available space, wear patterns and real-life use can all be informative.

Previous orthoses

If you have used insoles or foot orthoses before, bring them even if you no longer wear them. Their design, wear and tolerance may provide useful information.

Reason for the visit

Think about when the problem started, which activities change it and what treatment you have already tried. This helps us focus the assessment on your individual case.

You do not need reports, scans or previous orthoses to book. Bring them only if you already have them and they are related to the reason for your visit.
Clinical process

Assessment comes before treatment

Travelling from further away does not change how we make clinical decisions. We first study the problem and the function that is relevant to your symptoms and activity.

1. Understand the caseSymptoms, previous treatment, activity, footwear and relevant history.
2. Assess functionAccording to the case, this may include mobility, loading, pressure distribution, gait or posture.
3. Decide what is indicatedTreatment is chosen according to findings rather than from the footprint or a mould alone.

A foot orthosis is considered only when clinically indicated. If one is made, we define its purpose, design it, fabricate it within the MEDIPIE clinical process, fit it to your foot and footwear, and review how it performs.
